Teaching is one of the main parts of being a show skier. As new people come in, show skiing skills are passed on to them. Every year, we have people who have never skied before. After a season of skiing, they are usually the ones doing the teaching the next year...funny how that works out.

At the beginning of every season, Rose City holds a few practices at the YMCA in Sherwood. This gives a safe environment to introduce the different aspects and techniques of show skiing. If people join later in the year, the introduction is done on our ski dock, before hitting the water.

Here are some strap double techniques being taught below. On water, the man is in a harness, or strap, and has both hands free to do some gymnastics maneuvers with the woman.

Proper climbing techniques are critical to show skiing. The pool practices give plenty of time to learn how, and to refine the climb. Below are some different stages of teaching the techniques for building pyramids. In all of them, you can notice Scott directing the climbers as they learn how to step.
